Why Groundstone

I'm a a huge believer in the power of technology to make our lives better, and judging by any observable metric it has certainly done so. Starting a business or finding people who share your interests has never been easier, and anyone with a smartphone has access to an unbelievable amount of knowledge online. But how many of us can say we use technology with intent?

The flip side of tech is that it's easy to lose yourself in the myriad things demanding your attention: from doomscrolling to reading the news, there's always something your phone wants you to do. I'm a big believer in intetionality - the more time you spend on a problem the more you can achieve. And those efforts compound over time to give you a life you can be proud of.

That's why I built Groundstone. To remind me to actually pause and reflect on how I use my phone, and make each day count. The point of Groundstone is not to guilt trip you, or 'manipulate' you to use your phone less. The goal is to introduce some purposeful friction, and give you a physical memento that reminds you to live with purpose. Each time you pick it up, I want you to remember why you got one in the first place, and build habits that help you reach your dreams.

The Groundstone is a solo project built with love in Amsterdam and I'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions.

To a brighter, more intentional future,

Otto
